Read on for details.As the world becomes increasingly populated, garbage is becoming a growing problem on a daily basis. These disposable plates and utensils are simply a better choice over styrofoam or paper plates and plastic utensils.The plates are interesting and different. The feel of these plates is a cross between bamboo, cardboard, and balsa wood. The east-west edges that are with the grain are spongy, flexible and have a similar to a styrofoam plate feel. The north-south edges, against the grain, are very firm and strong and stiff. Each plate is unique, the fiber patterns and color are different on every plate. The plates feel durable enough that they could be washed and reused.The plates are roughly 10 inches squared – and provide a much larger surface area than a 10 inch diameter plate.The utensils feel similar to popsicle sticks. Not very flattering but for temporary use, they’re ok.This is the first time I’ve seen this style of disposable dining ware, and I have to say I like it. While these are much more expensive than the disposables we have now, I think over time, if and when this product gains more popularity, economies of scale should bring the price down greatly. With the world becoming littered in plastics, chemicals, and semi-biodegradable this and that – I think Leafarms has found a viable solution that goes back to nature. Everyone needs to pitch in and contribute to making the world a better place for the future. If that means I have to pay a little more to reduce trashing my world, then I’m ok with that.A set of a plate, fork, and knife runs a bit over 60 cents (4/2024), while a similar set of plastic and paper or styrofoam (premium) is a little less than half of the cost of these, at 25-30 cents, from my quick research.After more long term testing and usage, if my feelings change, I will update this review.Thanks for reading and hope this helps.
