Description
There are seasons in every life—a spring, a summer, a fall, and a winter. Each is beautiful, raw, and hallowed in its own way. In this modern collection of poems, Trudy A. Kleckner brings these seasons to life.Focusing on nature and the natural world, Kleckner writes on both the tragedies and joys that life can bring. Through sadness or anger, she still highlights the happiness that one can find in daily life and how to rise above and persevere through the pockets of loss and sorrow. Emphasizing wonder at the world and sometimes whimsy, her poems are bright with vivid imagery and utterly evocative. For anyone wanting a window into the grace that can be found in the everyday, Paper Airplanes is a message of hope.

Thank you, Trudy Kleckner, for sending these paper airplanes out into the world! Whether outside, breathing in Nature, or deep inside herself with loss and fear her companions, she reminds us ti breathe, to reflect, and to be like her old knife that "with its steady beat/goes on." I delight in her delight and discovery--of butterflies in the grain of the bathroom door, that she is the tree that "continues to grow around its own wound/that continues to reach ever upward to the sun, leaves full of light," and countless other miracles. This is a Spirit, a Strength (and I use the initial caps advisedly!) who has her feet firmly on the earth but whose words so, indeed, pour into the air like paper airplanes. Keep writing, Trudy Kleckner! Keep writing!
